Tyris Homes is a family business out of Radford, Virginia, founded by Jason White in 2006. Two decades and three Builder of the Year awards later, Jason still answers the first call himself.

§02 · The Name

Tyler + Karis.

The company is named for Jason’s two children, Tyler and Karis. The first two letters of one, the last three of the other, folded together.

A custom home is built for one family. The name on the truck is a family name, too. That is not an accident.

§03 · The founder

Jason White.

Jason came up through construction. Framing, decks, remodels, roofs, the whole stack. He went to New River Community College and then served as a superintendent at a larger construction company before deciding the work he wanted to do was custom homes, his way.

He founded Tyris in 2006 with the conviction that a custom home is a conversation between one owner and one builder, start to finish. Twenty years on, he has not delegated the first call. If you reach out to Tyris, by phone or email or text, Jason answers.

He still walks every lot before a contract is signed. The awards on the wall (three Builder of the Year, three Bath of the Year, two Best New Home) were earned one house at a time, on the ground, in the Valley.

Who you work with.

Jason White

President & Founder

Jason's passion for construction began in his teenage years and has continued throughout his career. After earning a degree in General Studies from New River Community College, he gained hands-on experience working as a superintendent for a local home builder. In 2006, Jason founded Tyris Homes with a commitment to building quality homes with honesty, personal attention, and a high level of customization. He believes being accessible to clients and maintaining strong, long-standing relationships with subcontractors and vendors are an important part of creating a better building experience. Today, Jason oversees the company's operations and remains closely involved with projects from the early planning stages through completion.

Cat White

Director of Construction

Cat attended Radford University and joined Tyris Homes in 2015. Before joining the company, he worked with Darden Restaurants, advancing from restaurant management to overseeing remodeling and construction projects for Red Lobster locations. Cat has also been actively involved with the New River Valley Home Builders Association, including serving as President and on its Board of Directors, and has served multiple terms as a Regional Vice President for the Home Builders Association of Virginia. As Director of Construction, Cat oversees Tyris Homes' construction projects and works closely with clients, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors from start to completion.

Tyler White

Superintendent

Tyler joined Tyris Homes in 2025 after graduating from Virginia Tech's Pamplin College of Business. Growing up around the family business gave him an early introduction to residential construction, while his business education brings another valuable perspective to the company. As a superintendent, Tyler works directly with clients, subcontractors, and vendors while coordinating projects throughout the construction process. His combination of business knowledge, field experience, and familiarity with Tyris Homes makes him an important part of the company's next generation.

Kelly White

Business Operations Manager

Kelly attended New River Community College and East Carolina University before beginning her career as a Registered Nurse. As Tyris Homes continued to grow, she joined the family business and became an important part of its day-to-day operations. Kelly helps manage the many details behind the scenes, including office administration, organization, scheduling, and client and vendor coordination. Her attention to detail and ability to keep things moving help ensure both the office and construction sides of Tyris Homes stay connected and organized.
